Quality Resources on Social Media



Hello again!


We are all on our social media accounts several times every day. As we grow as educators, we should begin to grow our social media networks as much as our personal networks. Here are some accounts worth checking out and/or following!


@ultimateteacher: Joseph Alvarado is an elementary special education teacher with fun, "crazy" ideas about teaching.


@abilitycatcher: This account is run by a mother of a daughter with cerbral palsy. She focuses on ability advocacy and uses her former creative marketing career to create an effective and interesting source for teachers.


@teacherntech00: Patrick Black is a special education teacher sharing his journey learning to utilize technology in the classroom in order to help all students.


@21stprincipal: John Robinson is a high school principal, veteran high school English teacher and public school advocate who often tweets about fully inclusive education and how to reach learners of all kinds through the use of technology and other resources.


@debraruh: Debra Ruh’s started Ruh Global in honor of her daughter who was born with Down Syndrome. She often tweets about helping individuals with disabilities find employment opportunities.


@drmichaelhart
: Dr. Michael Hart is an educator, speaker and foodie who uses his Ph.D in Psychology to educate others about living with ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia (often through the use of webinars).


@ginabad: The famous creator of Mom Blog, Gina Badalaty is the mother of two children with disabilities. She uses her website to give advice and encourage other parents of children with special needs.


@MrMatthewRay: Elementary Special Educator with a passion for helping kids reach their fullest potential. Also creator and author of The Matt Ray Daily, an online blog/newspaper focused on education.


@MichelleObama: Aside from serving as the country's First Lady, Michelle Obama often tweets about her "Let's Move" movement and healthier eating plans for America's youth.






Education to the Core
: This Facebook page was created by Emily Liscom, an Arizona elementary teacher, who strives to create a safe place for teachers to collaborate and share thoughts and ideas, all while realizing that "we have the best job on the planet."



HuffPost Education: This media/news page is dedicated to sharing a variety of forms of news surrounding education, often political and/or controversial.








MRSDSCORNER: Stephanie DeLussey is a Houston, Texas wife, mom of an adorable puppy, and elementary life skills teacher. Her page is filled with awesome ideas for the classroom and encouraging quotes for teachers.


ELEMENTARYSHENANIGANS: Hope King is a teacher blogger currently working at the Ron Clark Academy, which is a popular up-and-coming style of teaching.


LUCKLITTLELEARNERS: Angie Olsen is a 2nd Grade "Teacherpreneur" and blogger who gives teachers endless lesson plan ideas and classroom ideas, such as flexible seating.




Simply Ben Glenn: Ben Glenn is a motivational speaker, artist and comedian who discusses his discoveries and ideas of special education as he was diagnosed with Dyslexia and other learning disabilities at an early age.


YSER: Your Special Education Rights is a free video-based resource for parents founded by two private practice special education advocates Julie Swanson and Attorney Jennifer Laviano.


Apps by Paul Hamilton
: Paul is a speaker, teacher and technology developer who creates videos in order to show teachers how to use apps in the classroom for both educational and planning uses.








Hello Literacy: Jennifer Jones is an elementary teacher specializing in cognitive and emotional impairments. She pins everything from crafts to common core lesson plans to educational technology ideas.


The OCBlog: Charity Preston is a teacher educated to pinning tons of freebies for new and experienced teachers as well as THOUSANDS of classroom ideas (it's a bit excessive, but a great source).


Simply Suzy: Suzy Brooks pins on a variety of subjects, but most often about using technology in the classroom and resources online for both educators and students.
